I’m pleased to share my first “mini tutorial” on my blog. I love it when I’m able to use stamps and Big Shot die cuts for something other than the “obvious”. This idea is courtesy of one of my customers, as we were flipping though the 2009-2010 catalogue.
The largest flower in the Big Shot Build A Flower die makes a great gingerbread man. If you don’t have a Big Shot, or this die, you can accomplish the same look using any 5 petal flower with rounded petals, for example the flower in Stampin’ Up! Pick A Petal Stamp set.
- Punch out or stamp your 5 petal flower in Chocolate Chip or Soft Suede.
- Use your white gel pen to add a face, buttons and decorations on the arms and legs. (I imagine that you could also use brads to make buttons as an alternative to the gel pen.)
- Tear the edge of one or two pieces of scrap whisper white card stock that is the same length as your card base. Use your 2 way glue pen to apply glue to the torn edge and cover the glue with Dazzling Diamonds.
- Stamp the “sky” with snowflakes from your favourite stamp set. In this case I used the small snow flake from Snow Swirled.
- Glue your “snow” and gingerbread men to the card base.
- Stamp your greeting in Soft Suede ink on Bashful Blue cardstock and punch out with the Word Window punch.
- Use the Modern Label Punch to punch out Soft Suede cardstock.
- Mount the greeting on the Soft Suede Modern Label punch and secure to the card.
Voila! We’ll be making this and other cards, gift tags and gift card holders at my Christmas in July class on Wednesday July 29 and Friday August 14. Please contact me to register if you’d like to join us.
Supplies used to make this card:
- Bashful Blue, Whisper White and Soft Suede card stock
- Soft Suede classic ink and versa mark
- Snow Swirled and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets
- Big Shot, Build A Flower Die, Modern Label punch, Word Window punch, 2 way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
Happy crafting!
