Crushed Curry Animal Stories Giraffe Card

In June I joined a “new Stampin’ Up! in-colours swap” hosted by Judith. For those of you who are unfamiliar with swaps, each participant makes a quantity of the same card (specified by the swap hostess) that meets the swap requirements, mails the completed cards off to the hostess, and a week or two later you receive a whole bunch of cards in the mail (usually all but the one you made). In this swap, we each needed to make 31 cards featuring one of the six new in-colours. I dilly-dallied in signing up for the swap and all the spots for my favourite in-colours (Rich Razzleberry and Soft Suede) were gone. I ended up with Crushed Curry which was a colour that I really hadn’t played with prior to making the cards for this swap.

In my head I had a vision of two different cards that would be fantastic! Unfortunately the visions I had didn’t pan out (as my craft table can attest to with all the scraps of cut card stock and stamped images that never quite made a card that I really liked). In July I went to Donna’s Stamp-4-Fun event in Guelph and saw a card on the display boards that I loved, which happened to featured Crushed Curry. (Unfortunately I don’t know who I cased the card from, if it’s yours, let me know and I’ll give credit where credit is due.)

So after stamping 31 Crushed Curry giraffes and 310 giraffe legs in Soft Suede from the Animal Stories stamp set (item 116716) and shredding way too much Crushed Curry polka-dot grosgrain ribbon my swap cards were ready to go. Isn’t he cute!

To get the tail, I cut a piece of the fantastic Crushed Curry ½” polka dot grosgrain ribbon, cut the sides (binding) from the ribbon, and cut it in half length-wise. I pulled the short fibers from the ribbon and was left with this great tail.
